Hi Avery body,
Ever since I saw the movie "The Time Machine" I have been fascinated with the concept of time travel. I was a very young boy when I saw this great movie. So as soon as the librarian at the Golden Meadow Library thought I was old enough to read and understand Jules Vernes book "The Time Machine" I ansiously checked out the book. I couldn't put the book down. I was more fascinated with the book than the movie.
Then the movie "Planet of The Apes" came out. I was still pretty young. I was in N.O. with Daddy putting in an order of records for the studio and record shop. While we waited for the order to be filled, Daddy toke me to the old Sanger Theater on Canal St. to see "Planet of The Apes." We both really enjoyed that movie. We had a good time. I thought I was so special for Dad to ask me to go with him to the big N.O. and then take me to such a great movie. (P.S. We also had breakfast on the way in none other then the city of Boute. I was big shoot that day.)
I have seen several time travel movies since then and I pretty much love or at least like them all.
I truly believe Man at some time in history will develop a means of Time Travel. I just fell that this is going to happen. It would be the ultimate means of transportation. I believe this going to be the topic of the next story I'm going to attempt to write.
But here is a thought I need to work on. If man will and does develop a means of time travel, which I think he will, then where are all the people from the future ??? I want to try and explain this in my story so I thought ya'll would contribute your ideas and thoughts on the subject.
Later,
Peter

have you ever seen the movie the langolears which was based on a short story by steven king?
ReplyDeleteThis definately gave me much thoughts on time traveling.
I've got questions for ya'll,
If you could time travel would you?
would you be afraid that you would get stuck in another era and not be able to return?
That kinda scares me. I will definately try and get this book you speak of.
I didn't know that story of you and Dad seeing the planet of the Apes,
I do know as I grew up, Dad always liked those movies, probably thought of you each time and the day ya'll spent in the movies.
great story.
Let me think of where the future people are, I"m usually pretty good at this kinda stuff
Yes I have seen "The Longlaners" several times on Tv. I think that's the only place it has ever plated. I thought it was an excellent movie and I would watch it again.
ReplyDeleteThe book I talked about I'm sure you can get in any Library. The orignal mover was great and worth watching. But if you try to find it be advised there was a remake on the orignal. The first was great but had very few visual effects. The remake I also enjoyed very much and follows the story very close. A lot more visual effects in this one. Let me know if you find the book or the movie.
Lilly thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my blogs. I appreceiate it.
Peter
well I will look for both the movie and the
ReplyDeletebook on ebay and amazon first then will check the library, never heard of it!!!!
I'll bet that when I mention my "Time Travel" movie, it will be one that y'all never would of thought of, but will say, "AAAHHH, Yea...that's true". That statement will, no doubt, be followed by, "Boy, That Celena, she sure doesn't say much, but when she does...BAM!!!!" Go ahead, I know y'all want to say it...say it!!!!
ReplyDeleteRemember Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. You see the little Cowboy Kid pieces float through the air??? Everyone wonders, especially his frantic mother, where he went...hhhmmmm....
Last night, Ted and I watched a program, something like "After People". It features very old buildings, which back in their days, were beautiful and functional. Example: There was an huge, old, beautiful church, which in it's prime, gathered approximately 3,000 people to worship. Through the years people moved on and attendance had dropped so low that the building was forced to shut down. Thirty years later, the building still stands, however, it is basically a "Ruin", so much so that there are small trees beginning to grow from the molded rock which fell from the walls onto the floors.
Perhaps your future people can go back to the "Old World" and rebuild where they can live happily ever after. Throw in a contrast of the world today in it's hustle and bustle as compared to the "Good Old Days" when things were simple; like to Amish People; pure and clean.
Wow, that was a freaking brain buster!!!
Love ya,
C
C I'm worried...
ReplyDeletewhat happened to you in Taladega?!!!
DO you have a headache, fever...
you know that swine flu is going around?
Lilly, First spell check it's TALLEDAGO. DUH.
ReplyDeleteCelena, what the H_ _L are you talking about?? But you are right "you sure don't say much." (LOL)
Lilly, I can't beleive any one who has graduated from High School has not heard of Jules Verne. And "The Time Machine" which is one of his greatest works. And also he was born on my birthday Feb. 8 only it was in 1828 instead of 1949.
O.K.Ya'll I don't need the comments about the year he was born dealing with my own age.
Yes Lilly I would take a chance on time travel. But to start I would only go forward one day to check it out. If I couldn't make it back than I would only be one day ahead of every one else, which would be a first for me to be ahead of any one. And it would be the day before a Saints game so I could see who would win the game so I could place a major bet on the game and know that I'm going to win.
But back to the future people, I already know where they are and who they are. All the sightings of U.F.O.s you hear about and have heard about for years including Roswell, N.M.
Are not U.F.O.s from other plants they are the people from our future. Just a hint of where my story is going to go.
Any other thoughts about this, let me know.
Later,
Peter
WHAT THE HELL NONE OF YOU'LL WORK! SORRY, PETE, THAT I HAVEN'T WROTE ANYTHING BUT I DO WORK (SOMETIMES) AND GO BLOGGING AT NIGHT! HAVE YOU SEEN "BACK TO THE FUTURE" WITH MICHAEL J. FOX? LOVE IT A BUNCH! I THING I WOULD ONLY TRAVEL IN TIME IF I NEW I WOULD COME BACK WHENEVER I WANTED TO. I BELIEVE IN U.F.O. AND I ALSO BELIEVE THERE ARE PEOPLE (IF THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE CALLED) OUTSIDE OF OUR PLANET. I HOPE THAT ONE DAY BEFORE I LEAVE THAT SOMEONE WILL DISCOVER THAT OTHER PLANET.
ReplyDeleteJUST TO GET OFF THE SUBJECT A LITTLE - I ALSO BELIEVE THAT OUR WORLD AS WE KNOW IT IS COMING TO AN END. THE WORLD WILL NEVER FLOOD AGAIN BECAUSE "MAN WILL KILL MAN". WHICH IS WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW AMOUNG OTHER STRANGE THINGS SO PETE, IF YOU FIND THAT FUTURE CAN ALL OUR FAMILIES MIGRATE TOGETHER? WOULDN'T THAT BE FUN?
LATER,
RONNIE
well It looks like I am not the only one who never heard of Verne and the Time Machine since ebay and amazon never heard of the man either.... the only old book (yes i said old) book they have by that name is written by HG Wells, who, by the way, I have heard of hahaha
ReplyDeleteAnd as for South Lafourche, remember I went there many, many, many years after you and we had moved on to THE GRAPES OF WRATH and
1984......
where is rosie
and yes we work.....
Yes I work. But just when I want to. Not really but I haven't been to work since Monday. Too busy writting blogs. Boss thinks I'm sick. Which in a way is true, I always have been.
ReplyDeleteYes I have seen "Back to the Furture." All of them and I liked all of them.
I also believe in U.F.O.'S. But my story remember will be fiction and in it the U'F'O's will be time machines carring people from the future.
Man will not destroy himself. Unless he does it in exactly 3 years. I base this on the Myan Indians.(not sure about the spelling) If you have not heard of them they created the most acurate calender known to man, which they did a little over 2000 years ago. It also came with many predictions which came true. Their calander stopes in the year 2012. This many scientest beleive to be the end of the world. Of course on the other hand there are people think that this calander is so accurate it will began to repeat itself in 2012.
O.K. I think you are right about the spelling of TALADEGO. I was just giving you a hard time. I never looked up the spelling I got it from Celena.
Go to the damn library. H.G.Wells my have written about a time machine but he was better known for "The War of The Worlds." Which started out as a radio announcment which no one knew it was fiction. It was a live broadcast and it is said people were jumping from buildings because they thought is was actually happening. It was later turned into a movie called, beleive it or not "War of The Worlds."
Even had a remake of it a couple of years ago staring Tom Cruse. Go to the damn library or Google either Jules Verne or possible "The Time Machine."
Hay Ronnie help me out here, Don't you remember this guy and this book??
Later ya'll
Peter

LILLY,MY BAD,MY BAD,MY BAD.
ReplyDeleteI decided to research the book "The Time Machine." You were right, yes, ok, YOU WERE RIGHT I WAS WRONG, AND I'M SORRY. HAPPY NOW??
No kidding though, I'm really sorry for misleading you,but you were right the book "The Time Machine" was written by H.G.Wells and not Jules Verne.
My research shows you can buy the book with Amazon for $3.95.
well thank you very much!!!!
ReplyDeleteJesi says if you want to watch a fantastic movie about time travel you must see DONNIE DARKO now Jesi said this, not me....
I also like BUTTERFLY AFFECT it's about time travel also but I especially like it because I think Ashton Kutcher is HOT!!!
I never heard of "DONNIE DARDO." But I'm going to check it out on Net Flex. If I can find it I'll have it sent to me for viewing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jes.
LUV-U
Yes Lilly I saw "THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT" several times. I really like that one, it was a great movie. Did you know there is more than one ending ??
The most common one is where the two pass each other in the street and don't know each other. I think he turnes around and looks at her back then just walks off into the crowd.
Another, which is the first time I saw it, he goes all the way back in time to inside his mother's womb, wrappes his umbilical cord around his neck and kills himself so he is never born. I like this one the best. It actually shows him doing it.
Again I'm sorry about the mix up with the book "THE TIME MACHINE," WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN.
Later,
Peter
Yes, i did see both endings, I love that Movie
ReplyDeleteYou will probably like donnie darko also but i saw it a long time ago so kinda forgot about it but Jesi loves it
I am ordering the time machine from amazon.
